The Morning Improvement WalkBy Jon Miller | Post Date: March 4, 2010 10:26 AM | Comments: 2 Lean thinker Paul Akers, founder and President of FastCap is a high energy guy. How else would he run his company, run for U.S. Senate and host The American Innovator, a weekly talk radio program? How does he do it? He asks people for their help, he listens and he helps make good things happen. Paul does this every day. This starts first thing in the morning with the Morning Improvement Walk at FastCap. Paul and his General Manager walk to each station, talk to people and review their team members' improvements for the day. You can see Paul and his team in action in this new video. It's a very simple process but it works. The engagement level of the people at FastCap is amazing and it's a reflection of the personal investment of time and attention by the leadership. Paul Akers has built a great culture in his company through repetition of a few simple powerful practices like the Morning Improvement Walk. I suggest you show this video to the leaders in your company. If they have questions they can call in and ask Paul how to make the Morning Improvement Walk work for them. Speaking of calling in, this Saturday March 6, 2010 on The American Innovator show Paul will have author, speaker, TPS expert and innovation guru Matthew May. This was a great example of making sure everyone has the tools to correctly perform their jobs. Getting the employees and Management to buy into a program like demonstrated in the video is always a challenge. Poster: David Schmieder | Post Date: April 20, 2010 9:30 AM |

Jon,
Great video! Paul really drives home the culture with purpose and discipline. It is now habit for those employees. They know what to expect and their boss walks the walk. He's there for encouragement, assistance, challenging them to do better, and setting expectations. You can see he respects his people and expects the best from them. What a great video! Thanks.
