Brad Schmidt is one of the original founders of Gemba Reserach. He currently heads our Tokyo office where he consults with foreign companies based in Japan to implement lean. He also coaches Japanese small businesses, government offices and non-profits who perhaps find it easier to learn kaizen from a Japanese-speaking South African than from a local. I have known Brad for 25 years, unbelievably. Brad has a great team in Japan and they are doing some amazing work implementing lean in non-traditional environments across Asia and the Gulf so I hope to slow him down long enough to share some of that with everyone soon.
Lean thinking Washington State Senate candidate Paul Akers has joined Brad on several lean study missions. He has been kind enough to invite Brad so share some of what's going with lean in Japan on this week's The American Innovator radio show, April 17, 2010 from 0800 to 0900 PST (GMT -8). Here is the announcement from Paul:
Brad Schmidt is the Managing Partner and a founding member of Gemba Research. Before becoming a Lean consultant Brad spent many years interpreting for Japanese kaizen consultants. This taught him not just knowledge of Lean but also how to best implement it and sustain the effort. Since 1998 he has been a kaizen instructor in industries such as aerospace, custom manufacturing, small-lot job shops, high-volume electronic manufacturing, chemical processing, service businesses, healthcare, and office environments. This will be an AMAZING show! Each caller we talk to on air will receive their choice of a FastCap iDangle or a FastCap Rake n' Hoe for FREE, including shipping (a $19.95 value)! Thanks for listening and don't forget to tell all your friends about the show!
The archive of past shows includes excellent lean discussions with Dr. John Toussaint of ThedaCare, Karl Wadensten of The Lean Nation, author and speaker Matthew May, James Hereford of Group Health, and Erie County Executive Chris Collins.
Those of you who know Brad, this will be your chance to call in to say hello and win some free FastCap gear.
