Here It Comes, the Lean Burrito!

Anna's Taqueria in the Boston area serves its burritos exactly like that. The interesting part is that their parent company is named "Kaizen Corporation."

I'm not a burrito-guy, but that video hit home. The waste that is generated, and accepted by the customer as "normal," in the food service industry is criminal. Unfortunately, it's way too easy, intellectually and physically, to give the customer more than they need (packaging, condiments, plastic flatware, etc.) and let them deal with it. Customers, me included, aren't being persuasive enough ($$) to get the supplier to change their perspective and their behavior.

Here is a good twist on waste packaging from England.
I buy Decaff Coffee in a 200g twist top storage jar price £5.12p. The jar is well made and the empty jar can be used to store other products in the kitchen.
The manufacturer has just launched the same coffee in a 150g sachet at £4.00p. An increase in price of 4.1%.
I believe that they have saved the price difference between the sachet and the well made Glass Jar and inreased the price by 4.1%.
I end up paying more money and loose the on going use of the empty jar. I see this as a LOOSE - LOOSE situation. I am all in favour of reducing packaging but do not think that all of the saving should go to the manufacturer.
I think that the price of the Burriti will stay the same and the shop will keep the savings. These reductions in packaging will be the manufacurers increased profits for next year. But I don't think they will advertise it like that.

If you want a truly lean burrito, make it yourself. All fast food places are wasteful, some more than others.

In India Especially mumbai "VADA PAV" (iNDIANISED BURGER) is served in leanest way. Everthing is in the VADA PAV and it is only wrapped on paper. The only waste after you have your VADA PAV is the paper.
